南海陆源碎屑沉积物从源到汇的现代过程:南海作为边缘海最大的特色之一就是接受周边陆地大量碎屑沉积物,但由于周边各地区的地质背景迥然不同,加之各物源区贡献量的差异及其进入南海后的高度混合作用,丞需开展陆源碎屑从源到汇过程的系统研究。该研究方向是系统调查南海周边全部流域盆地现代沉积物的矿物学和地球化学组成,半定量评估南海周边各物源区对细粒碎屑沉积物的贡献量,研究其进入南海后的搬运机制和深水沉积作用。

Source-to-sink transport process of terrigenous sediments from continent to marginal sea. Through investigating surface sediments of the South China Sea and all surrounding fluvial systems, I am interested to obtain chemical weathering and physical erosion processes by analyzing mineralogy, major and trace elements, and Nd-Sr isotopes for understanding forcing mechanism of Earth surface formation and transport process of terrigenous sediments from fluvial systems to continental shelf and finally to the deep sea.

南海底层海流和沉积搬运过程的观测研究:我国的深海沉积学是以古海洋学为基础发展起来的,建议在过程观测基础上、以探索动力机制为目标的深海沉积学在我国还没有真正形成。该研究方向以“南海深海过程演变”重大研究研究计划的实施为契机,通过在南海东北部深水区若干关键站位布设锚系和海底三角架系统,运用多种海底仪器观测底层海流和沉积搬运的连续时间变化序列,研究南海底层海流和沉积搬运的动力学过程。

In-situ observation of deepwater currents and sediment transport process. Through using long-term in-situ mooring and tripod observation systems equipped with many instruments, such as ADCP, RCM, RBR, LISST-DEEP, and sediment traps, I am interested to investigate time series variations of contour currents, turbidity currents, nepheloid layers, and mesoscale eddy transport occurred in the South China Sea to understand some significant deep-sea hydrodynamic processes and their effects on sediment transport.

南海第四纪沉积学与东亚季风演变:南海作为西太平洋地区最大的边缘海,具有海洋科学研究的一系列优越性,目前以东亚季风演变为主题的南海古海洋学研究已位居国际前沿领域。然而,南海古环境在沉积学方面的研究明显不足。该研究方向是通过国际航次取得的高质量岩芯样品分析,从深海沉积的陆源碎屑记录中提取南海邻近陆地第四纪风化剥蚀和东亚季风演变的高分辨率信息,特别是开展南海粘土沉积学的研究。

Quaternary glacial-cyclic sediment process and East Asian monsoon evolution. Through analyzing sediment mineralogical and chemical compositions of high-quality sediment cores in the South China Sea such as R/V Marion Dufresne Calypso cores, I am interested to determine terrigenous sediment provenances and transport process from source areas to deep-sea environment, and to reconstruct high-resolution Quaternary weathering history and related East Asian monsoon evolution.

青藏高原隆升与南海形成演化的海陆对比:青藏高原的隆升过程与南海的形成演化具有密不可分的联系,是开展南海各种时间尺度沉积学研究不可回避的关键问题。青藏高原隆升的时代和幅度长期以来一直是国内外地学研究的热点。该研究方向从高原新生代沉积盆地和南海渐新世以来沉积记录的直接分析入手,通过沉积学和同位素地球化学方法,探索青藏高原隆升和南海海盆张裂在时间和机制上的关联及伴随的东亚季风长期演化历史。

Long-term tectonic uplift of the Tibetan plateau and basin evolution of the South China Sea. Through studying in Cenozoic sedimentary basins in northern Tibet (e.g. the Hoh Xil Basin) and joining IODP expeditions in the South China Sea (e.g. Expedition 349), I am strongly interested in the relationship between the uplift history of the Tibetan plateau and basin evolution of the South China Seas since the Oligocene by comparing their sedimentary records.
