地球物理学概论 (地震学部分) |Intro. to Geophysics (Seismology part)
内容:
本课程授课对象是地球物理学专业一年级学生,其设制目的是使学生对地球物理学有初步的认识,理解和掌握地球物理学的基本理论知识和基本研究方法,培养对专业的兴趣和热情。做为授课老师之一,主讲天然地震学部分的基础知识和原理,具体包括地震学的基本名词、地震的分类、地震的分布、地震活动性与板块构造、地震理论基础(参考)、地震波的反射和折射、远震射线及走时理论、天然地震应用实例:核爆监测、地震波和地球内部构造、天然地震应用实例:认识地球内部、地震仪简介、天然地震仪展示、地震震相分析、地震定位、天然地震应用实例:地震预警,以及讨论:地震是否可以预测。
Main topics: The purpose of this course is to help students obtain basic knowledge of geophysics, grasp basic theories and methods of Geophysics, cultivate students’ interests in geophysics. For the seismology part, the main topic is focused on the basic concepts and theories in Seismology, including: categories of earthquakes, distributions of earthquakes, the relationship between earthquakes and plate tectonics,  seismic wave theory, reflection and refraction, ray theory and travel time, seismic wave and Earth’s interior structure, seismic instruments, seismic phases, earthquake location, and applications of seismology: nuclear monitoring, inverting Earth’s interior structure, earthquake early warning, and earthquake prediction.

固体地球物理学II|Solid Earth Geophysics II

内容: 这门课是地球物理学专业的必修课。主要研究天然地震以及利用天然地震学的方法来研究地球科学问题,是地球科学的重要分支。它是在《地球物理学概论》所涉及到的天然地震学知识的基础上,进一步的深化,由概念性的了解过渡到定量性的学习,包括震源理论、地震波传播的波动方程的建立、射线方程的基本理论、面波理论、反射地震学、层析成像的基本理论,并对天然地震学的应用领域举例讲解。通过《固体地球物理学》II的学习,学生可以掌握天然地震学的基本理论和应用,拓宽自己的专业基础和视野,为以后从事天然地震学相关方向的工作和研究打下基础。
Main topics: Solid Earth Geophysics II is the required course for students majoring in Geophysics. This course is mainly focused on global seismology as well as utilizing seismological techniques to study the problems of Earth Science. Based on the course of “Introduction to Geophysics”, this course further investigates the concepts in seismology and is the transition from qualitative to quantitative study. It includes the basic theories of sources, seismic wave propagation, ray theory, surface wave theory, and seismic tomography and their applications. By this course, students should be able to grasp the basic theory and application of seismology, expland their fields, and build fundations for their future career in seismology.

地球灾害|Earth Hazards

内容: 这门课的主要目的是让学生充分了解地球活动所造成的灾害,如地震、海啸、火山活动等。本课程将讲授这些地球活动背后的机理、以及身处灾害发生时应该采取的正确措施。
Main topics: This course is aiming to give students a full coverage about the disasters caused by Earth activities, such as  earthquake, tsunami, volcano eruption, etc. The fundamentals behind these activities, and the proper measures which should be taken during these disasters, etc, are delivered in this course.

高等天然地震学|Advanced Seismology
内容:
本课程系统深入地介绍了天然地震学基本理论与研究进展,强调了天然地震学与地震和地球构造之间紧密的联系,主要包括天然地震学的基本理论和研究应用领域、地球内部结构尤其是地震学结构及相应的研究手段、天然地震的震源理论、地震学与板块构造的关系等等。通过本课程的学习,使研究生全面系统地掌握天然地震学的基本理论和物理概念,为从事天然地震学方面的科研工作打下坚实的理论基础。本课程在重视基础理论系统与全面性的同时,强调与科学研究的结合,有助于培养研究生的科研素质和能力。本课程的学习将为后续深入定量地学习天然地震学相关专业课程、开展科学研究打好基础。
Main topics: This course systematically introduces the basic theory and advances of Seismology, emphasizes the close relationships among Seismology, earthquakes, and Earth structure. Its main content includes the basic theory and applications of Seismology, Earth’s interior structure and corresponding studying approaches, source theory, the relationship between Seismology and plate tectonics. After studying this course, students can systematically grasp the basic theory and concepts of Seismology and build solid foundation for their future study and research in Seismology. This course also emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, and helps cultivating students’ ability of putting theory into practice.

定量地震学|Quantitative Seismology

内容:本课程全面、系统、定量地介绍了地震学的理论、方法和应用,包括弹性动力学的理论、震源理论及其数学物理表达、均匀介质中的近中远场的地震波传播及其数学物理表达、平面波在分层介质中的反射和透射、相移、衰减及物理频散现象、球面波在分层介质中的反射和透射、垂向非均匀介质中的面波理论、地球自由振荡理论、性质随深度而变化的介质中的体波理论等。通过本课程中对地震学理论的定量描述以及对实际应用和前沿性成果的讲授,培养研究生掌握扎实的地震学数理基础、从定量的角度来理解与掌握地震学各种方法的基本理论、特点和应用条件,深化研究生的专业素质。在重视基础理论的数学物理基础的同时,强调理论和实践的结合,把握学科发展的前沿,培养研究生的科研素质和能力、为深入开展科学研究打好基础。
Main topics: This course introduce the theory, methods, and applications of Seismology systematically, fully, and quantitatively. The main content includes the theory of elasticity, source theory, seismic wave propagation, seismic reflection and refraction, seismic attenuation, dispersion, surface wave theory, body wave theory, and Earth’s free oscillations. After studying this course, students are able to build a solid foundation of mathematics and physics for Seismology, understand the theory and applications of Seismology quantitatively, are able to put theory into practice, know the cutting-edge issues of Geophysics; and build the foundation for doing further research in Geophysics.
